Đôi khi bạn nghi ngờ một tập tin nào đó nhiễm vi rút, nhưng chương trình diệt vi rút trên máy bạn không phát hiện ra. Đây là lúc nhờ đến các dịch vụ quét vi rút trực tuyến (online), có khả năng sử dụng rất nhiều chương trình khác nhau để kiểm tra cho bạn. Khác với các dịch vụ quét vi rút cho máy tính, thường yêu cầu Internet Explorer và ActiveX, các dịch vụ dưới đây có thể hoạt động với bất cứ trình duyệt nào, trên bất cứ hệ thống nào: Windows, Linux hay Mac OS X. Danh sách dưới đây xếp theo thứ tự ngẫu nhiên, các dịch vụ được giới thiệu đều tồn tại khá lâu và có uy tín. Tuỳ thời điểm mà dịch vụ này hoặc dịch vụ kia sử dụng phiên bản mới hơn.

Virustotal

Virustotal từng được tạp chí PC World bình chọn là 1 trong 100 sản phẩm tốt nhất của năm 2007. Virustotal cho phép quét các tập tin có dung lượng lên đến 20 MB. Bạn có thể tải tập tin lên bằng SSL để tăng tính bảo mật, gửi tập tin đến Virustotal qua email hoặc đơn giản chỉ với một cú click chuột trong Windows Explorer (cần cài thêm chương trình).

Sau khi tải tập tin lên Virustotal, bạn sẽ nhận được kết quả từ 40 chương trình diệt vi rút khác nhau qua một báo cáo rất chi tiết trong thời gian chưa đến 2 phút. Nếu tập tin đó đã được người khác gửi lên trước đó, kết quả được trả về ngay lập tức, hoặc bạn có thể yêu cầu quét lại.

DrWeb

Đây là dịch vụ khá nổi tiếng của Nga, không những có khả năng quét tập tin mà còn có thể quét một trang web bất kì để kiểm tra trojan.

Sau khi quét xong, bạn có một danh sách các tập tin được chứa trong tập tin tải lên (có thể là tập tin nén, hoặc dạng SFX, hoặc tập tin cài đặt), các tập tin nghi ngờ có vi rút sẽ được đánh dấu.

Jotti

Dịch vụ quét vi rút và phần mềm độc hại của Jotti được biết đến khá rộng rãi tại Việt Nam. Đây là công ty của Đức, và các chương trình sử dụng đều là phiên bản trên Linux.

Jotti giới hạn kích thước tối đa cho mỗi tập tin là 20 MB. Sử dụng tại http://virusscan.jotti.org/.

VirScan

VirScan sử dụng phiên bản mới nhất của 36 phần mềm diệt vi rút khác nhau. Giới hạn kích thước mỗi tập tin là 20 MB.

Bạn có thể sử dụng các tập tin nén dạng RAR hoặc ZIP với mật khẩu là “infected” hoặc “virus” để tránh bị ISP hoặc các phần mềm khác chặn lại.
